To-Do List:

Standard

(1) Build an Ark.

This is a rather inconvenient week for my dad to have gone off to Europe for business purposes. Because, you see, the heavens have opened, and it is RAINING like it will never stop, and just what is wrong with a drought, anyway? Oh, yeah…the dead grass. And oh, yeah…the fire danger. But come one, people, all this rain? It has to stop because I am now home alone, so any water that enters the basement is all up to me to escort out of here, and, well, I am just not feeling that today.

In other news, I have figured out how to use my Gmail account to get blog updates via an RSS feed. Quite honestly, I didn’t even know that could be done until Jen mentioned how she was using her new iBook to keep up with blogs via this RSS thing. Now, you all have seen my Blogroll. And those who know me at all will not be surprised to hear that I have been, up until now, checking each and every blog on that list (along with two new ones that haven’t made it on there yet) each and every day (unless work really sucks or school gets too much in the way) to see if there are any new posts. Some people (thank you, Rude Cactus) post almost every day. Others (ahem…Rebecca) do so decidedly less often. However, I treat them all equally and check every site, every day, sometimes more than once a day, in case there is something new to read.

Yeah, maybe I do need to get a life…

Anyway, this RSS thing will supposedly make this easier for me. At the top of my Gmail Inbox page, I can scroll through the latest posts in all the blogs I read and see if there is anything new. Except for Miss Emily and The Best Chick Lit Writer Ever, who apparently don’t have that going on in their blogs. For them, I will still check “by hand.” But for the rest of you, thanks for welcoming me into the 21st century.

  1. Look on the bright side, at least it’s not snowing:) I sure hope that you don’t have to worry about any flooding. What a pain that would be. Congrats on entering the 21st century.

  2. I know I’m a little behind here, but I would love to get into this RSS thing too. I NEED ORGANIZATION. Anybody know if it works with Firefox? I’ll do a little googlin’ and get back to ya. Thanks for the tip! Splendid idear!

  3. Yeah, this RSS reader thing is a huge timesaver for me, and it alerts me as soon as there are new posts to read, so it is really great.Oy Vey, There are some plug ins for Firefox that will let you read RSS feeds. I think you are on the right track with Google to find them.

  4. also check out google’s customizable homepage. where in gmail you have to scroll through clips, on your google page itself (which is what my browser is set to) you can see unlimited rss feeds, 3 posts each. I love it. even easier than webclips in gmail. (and I refuse to get an RSS reader – I want to go to the blogs, I only want to know when they’re updated.)
